Stucco Wall in Seville
by Andre Lawson
A sun-bleached facade of white stucco curves gently, its surface marked by the faint, jagged water stains that trace the path of heavy rains from previous seasons. In the foreground, a wrought-iron railing holds a wicker basket tipped on its side, spilling dried orange peels and twigs onto the warm terracotta tiles below. The late afternoon light casts long, sharp shadows across the wall, highlighting the texture of the peeling paint and the rough grain of the wood. One deadbolt on a heavy wooden door glints briefly as a breeze shifts the curtain inside, while nearby, the vibrant yellow of a marigold petal catches the glow, against the dusty gray of the stone steps.
