Stoneware Crock Salt Glaze Blue Motif Kaduna
A hand-thrown stoneware crock sits centered against a blurred background of a pier railing in Kaduna. The salt glaze creates a textured, orange-peel surface that catches the late morning north-window sidelight, highlighting the uneven ridges of the clay. A delicate blue motif wraps around the midsection, its pigment settled into the glaze's natural divots. Soft reflections shimmer on the smooth metal railing beside the vessel, mirroring the crock's curved shoulder. The dry season light enters at a low angle, casting long, soft shadows across the interior of the crock while illuminating the matte finish of the stoneware. The blue paint appears slightly darker where the glaze pools, against the pale, salted gray of the rim. A final highlight gleams on the wet-looking sheen of the glaze near the handle attachment point.
