Polished steel scissors rest open on a worn wooden table, their blades reflecting the warm glow of nearby candlelight. Chalk dust scatters across the dark grain alongside a second pair of shears, evidence of recent cutting. Late summer heat lingers in the room, visible in the way the light catches the smooth metal curves. The copper-toned illumination softens the edges of the tools, highlighting the fine scratches on the handles and the sharp points of the blades. Small flecks of white chalk rest on the wood near the metal, marking the boundary between preparation and creation. The scene sits still, waiting for the next cut.
