Split Sky Over Ecuador Goat Stand in at a stockyard loading ramp in Ecuador

Split Sky Over Ecuador Goat Stand

by Tommy Noble

Amber sunlight floods the left side of the wet metal grating on the goat hoof-trim stand, highlighting rust streaks and puddles left by the recent washdown. The concrete loading ramp slopes upward, its leading lines guiding toward the horizon where the sky fractures. The left half glows with a clear, bright day while the right half abruptly shifts to a deep indigo canvas packed with sharp stars. This impossible boundary cuts straight across the frame, casting cool starlight onto the damp equipment while the warm sun remains on the other side. One rusted bolt anchors the grating, its shadow stretching long across the slick floor, marking the exact edge where day ends and night begins.
