Under the flat glare of noon, bright daylight floods a covered bazaar aisle in Poznan. Two vibrant pyramids of spices dominate the view: golden turmeric on the left and deep red paprika on the right. Fine powder dusts the wooden counter, catching the light in a soft haze. Wisps of steam and cooking smoke drift horizontally through the air, partially obscuring the background where blurred figures of shoppers move. The rough texture of the wooden display contrasts with the smooth, powdery surfaces of the mounds. Above, the dark underside of the bazaar roof creates a heavy shadow that frames the illuminated goods. One grain of turmeric rests on the edge of the red pile.
