Snowboarder Carving Heel-Side Turn in Fresh Snow
by Bill Roach
Steel-blue ambient light washes over a village lane where a snowboarder executes a deep heel-side turn. The rider leans sharply into the slope, carving a clean, curved trench through pristine powder that sprays upward in a fine mist. Sea spray drifts across the course, mixing with the kicked-up snow to create a hazy texture against the gray pavement. The snowboarder wears a dark jacket and helmet, their body angled low to the ground with knees bent and arms extended for balance. Behind them, residential houses line the narrow street, their windows reflecting the cool, endless summer glow. The snow rests on the edges of the road, forming soft, uneven banks. A trail of disturbed powder marks the path of the turn, leading directly to the board's edge where the snow fractures into sharp, crystalline shards.
