Sliding Tray in Paris
by Meghan Brown
Damp cobblestones in the Marais reflect the amber glow of a bakery’s interior, where a baker in a white apron slides a tray of golden baguettes onto a wooden board. Rain streaks the windowpane, blurring the street outside into soft streaks of gray and neon. Inside, the warm light catches the flour dust in the air and the sheen of wet pavement visible through the glass. A wicker hamper sits near the door, damp at the base, while a peg rail holds a few leather aprons. The crisp texture of fresh bread against the slick, rain-slicked urban exterior, creating a sharp, high-fashion contrast between the rustic interior warmth and the cool, wet Parisian dusk.
