Shop Workspace in Kochi
by Norman Munoz
Under the flat, diffused light of an overcast midday, a narrow shop front in Kochi’s Fort Kochi district reveals a cluttered workspace where daily commerce meets domestic life. A weathered wooden stool sits slightly askew on the worn concrete floor, supporting a stack of yellowed file boxes that serve as makeshift storage for inventory records. Behind them, a metal cupboard stands with its doors slightly ajar, exposing shelves lined with tin containers and a worn coffee grinder used for preparing strong local brews for customers. A pair of faded pot holders hangs from a peg rail nailed to the brick wall, while a bread knife rests on a nearby counter, hinting at the snacks sold here.
