One tungsten bulb casts a warm, yellow glow against the deep indigo of a midnight sky. The light falls on a young shepherd standing at the edge of a village square near Rome, his face marked by weathered lines and a calm, dignified expression. A small white lamb rests across his shoulders, its wool catching the harsh artificial light while the background dissolves into soft, dark bokeh. Wet cobblestones reflect the streetlamp, hinting at a storm that has just cleared. The shepherd wears a simple, earth-toned tunic, and the damp air is visible only in the glistening surfaces of the stone and the sheep's coat. The shallow depth of field isolates the pair from the ancient, shadowed architecture behind them.
