Shaking Towel in Alexandria

Mist rests on the limestone facade of a weathered Alexandrian building near the Corniche, diffusing the pale dawn light into a soft, gray haze. On a second-story balcony, a woman in a faded blue apron leans over the railing, shaking out a thick cotton towel that catches the faint wind. Beside her, a woven basket holds tangled knitting needles and wool, while a pair of heavy scissors rests on the stone ledge, unused. The scene is quiet and candid, with the damp air softening the sharp edges of the masonry. In the background, the blurred outline of a fishing boat drifts through the fog, at the base of the domestic moment in the coastal reality of the city.
