SFogliatelle Ricotta Filling on Ceramic Plate

Flaky, golden-brown pastry shells rest on a speckled ceramic plate positioned against a window frame in a Beijing interior. The sfogliatelle display hundreds of delicate, layered folds that catch the soft, diffuse light bouncing off pale walls. Thick, white ricotta filling spills slightly from the center of the split pastries, against the crisp, buttery crusts. Deep winter shadows pool in the crevices between the pastry layers, while warm interior tones define the scene. One crumb lies on the rim of the plate near the window sill, marking the edge of the surface.
