The late summer sun slants low over the cobblestones of Beacon Hill, casting long, sharp shadows from the red-brick Federal-style townhouses onto the sidewalk. A tea seller’s wooden cart sits parked near the corner of Charles Street, its glass display case reflecting the amber light of the setting sun. Inside the cart, a jade-green ceramic glaze on a single teapot catches the eye, against the dark, polished wood of the counter. A brass candlestick rests beside a stack of paper cups, its surface gleaming with reflected heat. Nearby, a young tree in a metal planter box sheds leaves onto the pavement, while a customer waits, their shadow stretching across the historic pavement.
