Scooter convoy in polar night mist
by Raul Wong
Vibrant orange and electric blue scooters cut a diagonal line through thick, fogbound mist near the Kungsholmen harbor mouth. The scene exists in the deep gray of polar night, yet soft overcast light illuminates the riders and their machines with unexpected clarity. Metal surfaces reflect the dull sky while the riders wear heavy winter gear, their faces masked against the cold. The impossible element defines the space: dark, sharp shadows stretch backward from the scooters, pointing directly toward the diffuse light source above rather than away from it. This reversal creates a visual tension where the vehicles appear to float slightly above the wet asphalt. The mist swirls around the tires, blurring the boundary between the road and the harbor edge, while the diagonal formation of the convoy leads toward the vanishing point where the harbor lights begin to glow.
