Rusted Dumpster Lid Open at Dawn in Ashgabat Alley

First light of dawn spills across a rusted metal dumpster lid propped open in a narrow back alley along a shuttered arcade in Ashgabat. The corrugated steel surface shows deep orange corrosion and flaking paint, against the pale, dusty gray of the concrete curb. Wind funnels dry leaves and crumpled paper scraps along the edge of the street, caught in the early morning current. The arcade behind features closed metal shutters, their horizontal slats dark against the softening sky. Shadows stretch long and cool across the pavement, while the rising sun catches the jagged edge of the lid, turning the rust into a warm, glowing texture. One piece of blue plastic rests against the metal, fluttering slightly in the breeze.
