Mist rests on the corrugated metal roof of a South Miami auto repair shop, softening the harsh edges of the dawn. A mechanic in a faded blue jumpsuit stands on a cracked concrete apron, leaning over the open hood of a rusted 1980s sedan. Steam rises from the engine, mixing with the fog, while his gloved hands manipulate a wrench near a chipped blue enamel oil can resting on a makeshift workbench. The bench, scarred by years of use, holds a faded tea canister and a cracked hand mirror reflecting the gray sky. Palm fronds, heavy with dew, droop into the frame from above, their serrated edges sharp against the diffuse light.
