Recife Carnival Barker Predawn Tungsten Portrait

Amber tungsten light cuts through the predawn darkness of a Recife street, illuminating a carnival barker's face against deep shadow. His skin carries a sheen of moisture from the wet season, with sweat beads resting on his forehead and temple. A thick, waxed handlebar mustache curves upward above a broad, attentive grin. The light catches the curve of his cheekbone and the texture of his skin, leaving the rest of his form in soft shadow. Dark negative space surrounds him on all sides, isolating his expression from the early morning stillness. His eyes look forward, fixed in the single beam of artificial light that falls across his features.
