Soft, diffused morning light spills across the slick cobblestones of a Charleston courtyard, where recent rain has left the historic pink brick walls glistening with moisture. In the mid-ground, a wrought-iron balcony casts long, intricate shadows that stretch across the wet pavement, against the vibrant green of potted ferns clinging to the stonework. One, weathered stoneware crock sits abandoned near a doorway, its rough texture absorbing the gray light, while a rusted cabinet latch on a nearby gate catches a faint, dull glint from the overcast sky.
