The cool stillness before sunrise casts a blue twilight over the stone ramparts of Quebec City, illuminating the cobblestones of the Old Port. A few moored sailboats rest quietly in the harbor, their dark hulls reflecting in the calm water. The ancient stone walls of the Citadelle rise in the background, their textured surfaces catching the faint early light. Empty benches line the waterfront promenade, untouched by the morning crowd. The quiet anticipation of the day breaking over the historic district, with the soft glow beginning to touch the upper windows of the nearby colonial buildings.
