Prayer Beads in Predawn Mosque Light

Pale fingers grip smooth wooden prayer beads against the deep shadows of an Isfahan mosque interior. Thin candlelight flickers across polished stone surfaces, casting sharp, dancing reflections on the dark floor. The beads, worn to a soft sheen by repeated use, slide slowly between thumb and forefinger in a rhythmic, silent motion. Behind the hands, the architecture reveals high arches and intricate geometric patterns, their details softened by the low light. The air appears still, holding only the warm glow of the candles and the cool gray of the predawn darkness. One beam of light illuminates the dust-free texture of the wooden surface beneath the hands.
