A small Portuguese Podengo Pequeno lies curled on a faded velvet cushion atop a wooden window seat in a quiet Surabaya apartment. The dog's short, brindle coat catches the soft side light filtering through sheer curtains, highlighting the crisp texture of its fur and the alert set of its folded ears. Fine dust settles on the worn fabric of a nearby throw pillow and the surface of the wooden sill. The wooden sill shows signs of age with minor scratches and a thin layer of dry tropical dust. Behind the dog, a blurred view of a narrow alleyway suggests the city beyond, while the soft shadows of a doorway frame the corner of the room.
