Porch Entrance in Los Angeles

Bright late morning light floods the sun-bleached stucco facade of a mid-century bungalow in Highland Park, illuminating a narrow concrete porch where a vibrant orange pumpkin rests against the base of a rusted iron deadbolt on a weathered front door. Beside the heavy lock, a cluster of potted herbs in terracotta pots spills over the edge of the step, their green leaves sharp against the warm beige wall. A simple hand broom leans casually in the corner, its bristles dusted with dry LA dirt, while a faded blue and white porcelain bowl sits inverted nearby, catching the harsh glare of the sun.
