Pigeons just after sunrise in Osaka

A narrow alley in Osaka’s Shinsaibashi district glows with the pale, cool light of early morning before the tourist crowds arrive. On a low concrete ledge outside a closed ramen shop, a chipped ceramic mixing bowl sits beside a small metal skillet, remnants of a pre-dawn prep session. A few scattered coffee grounds mark the rim of an open tin, its lid resting nearby like a discarded cap. In the background, two pigeons peck at crumbs on the wet pavement, their grey feathers against the bright yellow safety vest draped over a nearby bicycle handle.
