Cold dawn light falls through heavy overcast skies, illuminating a steel rail of parachute rigging hooks positioned beside a convoy halt on open ground in Darakeh, Tehran. The metal surface reflects the muted gray of the midsummer morning, showing faint scratches and grease marks from recent use. Mist rests on the lower edges of the hooks, dampening the sharp angles of the hardware. Behind the rail, the flat expanse of the open field stretches into the distance, where the silhouettes of military vehicles rest in the diffused light. The hooks hang in a precise, repeating row, their cold steel against the soft, gray haze of the air. One hook catches the weak light, revealing a tiny fleck of rust near its pivot point.
