Overpass Shadow on Salt Lake City Vendor Cart
Steel-blue twilight washes the underpass beneath an elevated train line in Salt Lake City. A sidewalk vendor cart sits partially submerged in the deep, angular shadow cast by the overpass structure above. Low-hanging clouds diffuse the fading light, creating a uniform, cool tone across the concrete pavement. Early spring air is suggested by the bare branches of distant trees and the vendor's heavy coat. The foreground dissolves into soft, out-of-focus bokeh, isolating the cart's metal surfaces and the sharp geometric edge where the shadow meets the ambient light. One red reflector on the cart's rear bumper glows faintly against the dark steel.
