Early morning light falls through dense wet-season foliage, casting deep shadows across a stone cloister garden near the Sumbe riverside landing. A nun stands in the lower left, her dark habit absorbing the dim light while a sharp rim of sun highlights the edges of her veil and shoulders. Lush green ferns and broad leaves surround her, their surfaces glistening with recent rain. The low angle emphasizes the height of the stone archway behind her, framing her against the bright river water in the distance. Moss rests on the damp base of the wall, and a small puddle reflects the overcast sky. at the edge is a single water droplet sliding down a frond near her elbow.
