A concrete pumping station anchors the muddy bank of a lowland canal in Mumbai under the harsh glare of sodium streetlights. Heavy industrial pipes curve downward, actively lifting dark water from the stagnant canal into a higher drainage channel. The scene is set deep in the night, with the wet concrete reflecting the yellow artificial light. A rusted metal wall hook protrudes from the station's utility wall near a closed maintenance door. Soap residue stains the area around a nearby drawer pull on a small utility cabinet, evidence of recent cleaning or use. The surrounding area is quiet, with no people visible, showing the mechanical function of the infrastructure against the dark, still water of the canal.
