Mushroom Cluster Pharmacy Compounding Hood Lhasa
by Julian Cobb
Soft afternoon light falls through sheer curtains into a clinic exam room near Lhasa, illuminating a stainless steel pharmacy compounding hood that has been wiped clean. The metallic surfaces reflect the pale glow, showing faint smudges where a wipe-down recently finished. On the floor beneath the hood, ordinary medical supplies rest beside impossible umbrella-sized mushrooms with thick stems and broad caps. Condensation beads on the nearby glass window, blurring the view outside. The mushrooms cast soft shadows against the linoleum, their earthy tones against the clinical white and blue of the room. A red prayer flag hangs near the window frame, adding a touch of local culture to the sterile environment. The sheer scale of the fungi dwarfs the nearby chair, creating a surreal stillness in the quiet space.
