The soft gray light of early morning settles over a quiet Venetian canal, reflecting the muted tones of aged brick and stucco facades. Condensation beads on the dark wooden shutters of a ground-floor window, hinting at the cool air meeting the damp interior. Rough stone walls along the water’s edge are textured with patches of map lichen, adding organic detail to the historic architecture. A small wooden boat is tied loosely to a rusted iron ring, bobbing gently in the still water.
