Their worn spines show faded red and yellow covers, resting against the cushion. Outside, heavy rain blurs the glass, softening the view of the wet courtyard. Wooden beams and stone pillars frame the space, at the base of the architecture in local style. Narrow beams of light cut across the floor, illuminating dust motes suspended in the air. A bookmark peeks out from the top book, marking a page in the dim quiet.
