Cold, artificial light from the distribution bay illuminates a row of pallets lined up for shipment. Brown cardboard boxes, some wrapped in tight, translucent shrink film, reflect the overhead bulbs with soft, elongated glares. Bright yellow and red destination stickers rest on the edges, contrasting against the muted grays of the concrete floor. White plastic edge protectors shield the corners of the stacked units, while inventory tags dangle from the sides. The scene is framed with the leading lines of the pallet lane drawing toward the rear of the station. Shadows stretch long and sharp across the dusty ground, showing the late hour. A barcode scanner rests on a nearby metal table, its screen glowing faintly against the dim surroundings.
