Marathon Runner Dousing Water at Latakia Quay

Soft, overcast light washes the harbor quay near Latakia in a cool, pre-dawn gray. A marathon runner, clad in athletic gear, stands at the edge of the water station, gripping a saturated sponge. Visible breath plumes in the cold air, marking the stillness before sunrise. Water droplets scatter from the sponge, catching the diffuse light as they fall toward the runner's torso. The rough texture of the concrete pier contrasts with the smooth, wet surface of the sponge. Behind the figure, the calm water of the harbor reflects the muted sky, while distant industrial structures fade into the mist. The runner's posture leans forward, muscles tense against the sudden shock of cold water. One droplet hangs suspended on the edge of the sponge, catching the dim light before falling.
