Pale morning light spills across a narrow Amman alleyway, illuminating the textured limestone facade of a traditional house. A young man in a faded blue shirt stands on a wooden step stool, carefully adjusting a rusted hacksaw against a pipe running along the exterior wall. Below him, a tabby cat watches from the shadow of a doorway, its fur catching the first warm rays of the sun. On a nearby windowsill, condensation beads on a glass pitcher, hinting at the cool night air that has just given way to the day's heat.
