Pale morning light spills across a weathered limestone wall in Pelourinho, illuminating a vibrant cluster of magenta bougainvillea that drapes heavily over a rusted iron balcony railing. The rough, porous texture of the aged stucco contrasts sharply with the delicate, papery petals of the flowers, which catch the early sun and cast intricate, lace-like shadows against the deep blue painted wood below. In the background, the terracotta roof tiles of adjacent colonial buildings rise in staggered layers, establishing the dense, vertical character of the historic district. One dried leaf rests on the wet metal rail, its jagged edge catching a sharp glint of reflected light.
