Luang Prabang Brass Bell in in Luang Prabang, Laos

Luang Prabang Brass Bell

by Chase Carey

A brass bell rests on a windowsill inside a traditional wooden house, catching the dim, grey light of a rainy dusk in Luang Prabang. Rain streaks the glass pane behind the object, blurring the view of the darkened street outside where distant temple lanterns glow faintly. The metal surface of the bell reflects the warm, amber hue of a nearby candle, against the cool, wet atmosphere of the room. One drop of condensation rests on the base of the bell, slowly sliding down the curved metal edge.
