Luang Prabang Wooden Shutters at First Light in in Luang Prabang, Laos

Luang Prabang Wooden Shutters at First Light

by Vernon Hensley

First light falls through the misty air over the steep, mossy tiles of a traditional Lao roof in Luang Prabang. A monk in saffron robes walks along the slick, reflective pavement, his alms bowl held close. Beside him, a wooden bicycle basket rests on a parked bike, its wicker weave darkened by the recent downpour. The quiet rhythm of the morning, with water dripping from eaves and the soft glow of dawn highlighting the texture of the weathered wood and the vibrant colors of the robes against the grey, wet surroundings.
