A weathered wooden ledger desk sits on packed earth inside a ranch corral in Telangana, illuminated by a sweeping beam of artificial light that cuts through low-hanging clouds. The surface bears the marks of repeated use: faded ink stains, scuff marks, and a metal inkwell resting beside a worn logbook. Dust motes hang suspended in the beam, catching the stark white glow against the deepening twilight. Behind the desk, rough-hewn wooden posts of the corral frame the view, while the ground shows the texture of dry soil and scattered straw. The light reveals the grain of the wood and the frayed edges of a paper sheet, showing the quiet utility of the space after feeding hours. One shadow stretches long across the dirt floor, ending at the base of a rusted metal gate.
