Lanterns Rising in Beijing at Blue Hour

The deep blue twilight of a Beijing evening settles over a dense cluster of traditional grey-tiled hutong rooftops. Hundreds of paper sky lanterns with glowing orange flames drift upward into the darkening sky, creating a vibrant contrast against the cool ambient light. Below, the narrow alleyways are filled with the silhouettes of residents and visitors watching the ascent. The warm glow from the lanterns reflects off the curved eaves and wooden window frames, highlighting the intricate architecture of the historic neighborhood.
