Indigo Workwear Steam Backstage Managua Midnight

by Glen Winters

Neon-pink and blue light washes over a metal garment rack holding heavy indigo work trousers. Thick steam curls from a nearby pressing station, softening the sharp edges of the denim fabric. The corridor walls show wear typical of a rainy season, with damp patches visible near the floor where window light from an open door cuts across the scene. Hangers hang in a rhythmic line, their metal hooks catching the glow of the overhead fixtures. Condensation beads on the chrome rail of the rack, reflecting the humid air. The indigo fabric hangs in deep folds, heavy and still, while the steam drifts upward to meet the cool, dark ceiling. One hanger sways slightly at the far end of the rack.
