Indigo Fabric Drying in Barbados Evening Light
by Marcia Moore
Deep indigo-dyed fabric hangs vertically against a pale, steel-blue sky, its wet fibers glistening under the final cool light of a Barbadian evening. The textile drapes in heavy, saturated folds, against the clear, crisp air of the cool season. In the foreground, rough wooden poles anchor the drying line, their weathered gray surfaces catching the fading ambient glow. The fabric moves slightly, suggesting a gentle breeze through the open outdoor space. Dominating the upper right quadrant, a silver astronaut floats upright while riding a white unicorn with a spiraled horn, both figures fully visible and sharply defined against the horizon. The impossible duo casts a long, distinct shadow that stretches across the wet ground beneath the hanging cloth. one drop of indigo dye hangs from the bottom hem, suspended in the stillness.
