Bright late morning light floods a narrow London mews courtyard, illuminating a weathered brick wall where a single orange cat stretches lazily across a stack of discarded cardboard boxes. Beside the feline, a cluster of household maintenance tools leans casually against the damp stone: two mops with frayed yellow handles rest in a rusty metal bucket, while a rake head and a hand plane lie forgotten on the wet cobblestones, their wood grain softened by recent rain. A lone glass tumbler sits precariously on a nearby windowsill, catching the harsh sunlight, while a small paper lantern hangs limp from a rusted hook above, unused in the daylight.
