A sun-drenched corner of a North Shore laneway shows a casual domestic moment where a faded turquoise beach towel drapes over a rusted washing line, its bright fabric against the grey concrete paving and weathered brick walls typical of Auckland’s interwar housing. Beside the towel, a green plastic hose nozzle rests on a low retaining wall, connected to a spigot that drips intermittently, creating small, glistening water droplets on the broad, waxy leaves of a nearby rhubarb plant.
