Hama Commuters Under Overpass at Dawn

Pale morning light slices across a concrete overpass in Hama, illuminating the tops of a fruit vendor's stall while the rest of the structure remains in deep shadow. Commuters stand huddled near the tram stop, their silhouettes sharp against the dim sky. A plastic bag and dry leaves skitter along the curb, driven by wind funneling through the space beneath the bridge. The vendor folds a tarp over crates of oranges and pomegranates, his movements quick and practiced. Overhead cables stretch diagonally across the frame, creating strong leading lines that guide toward the distant tram tracks. The rough texture of the concrete pillars contrasts with the smooth, wet sheen of the pavement where the trash accumulates.
