Hair Comb in Nairobi

A silver hair comb rests on the rough, peeling turquoise paint of a window sill in a Nairobi apartment after dark. The low angle of mixed city light casts long, sharp shadows across the comb’s fine teeth and the chipped surface beneath it. Faint reflections of distant streetlamps glimmer in the metal curves, against the deep, matte shadows pooling in the corners of the frame. The texture of the flaking paint dominates the foreground, showing the wear of the room’s interior against the urban glow outside.
