Hail Scouring Autumn Vineyard Row

Dark soil stretches beneath a row of vines where leaves bear the white scarring of hail impact. Torn protective netting hangs loosely from the trellis wires, its fibers frayed and gray against the deep green of the remaining foliage. A tractor track cuts through the dirt, its ruts fading into a blue haze that softens the background. Chaff and fine dust drift suspended in the midday light, catching the reflection from a nearby water source to create a shimmering veil. The vines stand heavy and still, their autumn colors muted by the weather. At the edge of the frame, a single broken leaf rests on the muddy ground, its jagged edge stark against the dark earth.
