Grilling Fish in Casablanca

Dusk settles over the Ain Diab corniche as light rain slicks the asphalt, reflecting the neon glow of a nearby seafood grill. A street vendor, hooded in a bright yellow rain poncho, tends to a row of charcoal grills where sizzling fish emit plumes of white steam into the damp air. Beside the grill, a stainless steel tea kettle whistles on a portable burner, its silver surface catching the red spill of a hanging bulb. A few plastic stools are scattered nearby, occupied by locals huddled under umbrellas, waiting for their order.
