Green Banker Lamps Over Seminar Table
by Noah Keith
Soft daylight falls through sheer curtains, casting a pale glow across a long wooden seminar table arranged in a computer lab in Jeddah. Three vintage green banker lamps sit open on the surface, their glass shades catching the ambient light while small pools of warm yellow illumination settle into the corners of the room. Stacks of paper and open notebooks lie flat beside the lamps, their pages illuminated by the artificial glow against the cooler natural light. The cool season air is suggested by the stillness of the heavy curtains and the unoccupied wooden chairs tucked neatly under the table. Dust motes remain suspended in the shafts of light, while the deep green of the lamp shades contrasts with the neutral beige of the walls and the dark wood grain of the tabletop. One open notebook rests near the edge, its blank page waiting for the first student.
