A wet cobbled street in Liverpool’s Georgian quarter reflects the dull grey light of an early morning, the pavement slick with recent rain. A lone cyclist in a high-visibility yellow jacket pedals past a row of red-brick terraced houses, their sash windows reflecting the overcast sky. On a ground-floor balcony, a single dish towel hangs damp and heavy, its fabric darkened by moisture, swaying slightly in the chill breeze.
