Geometric Kilim Rug in Vaulted Atrium

Deep indigo and terracotta geometric motifs dominate the handwoven kilim rug spread across the stone floor of a vaulted atrium near Batna. Winter light fades outside, leaving the interior illuminated only by the warm, flickering glow of nearby candles. The wool fibers show a coarse, tactile texture where light catches the raised edges of the diamond and zigzag patterns. Soft reflections shimmer on the smooth, dark stone surfaces surrounding the rug, mirroring the flame's orange hue. Negative space frames the textile, showing the sharp lines of the weave against the curved arches of the vaulted ceiling. One thread frays slightly at the corner, breaking the perfect symmetry of the design.
