Sunlight slices through the open bay door of a mid-century modern garage, illuminating a dusty workbench cluttered with the quiet remnants of a hobbyist’s afternoon. A straight razor rests beside a small, empty glass jar, its surface catching the harsh California glare. Nearby, a spool of heavy-duty thread sits next to a worn leather seat cushion that has been propped up for repair. The wood of the bench is scarred with knife marks, evidence of countless past projects. Outside the frame, the heat shimmers off the concrete driveway, while inside, the air is still and thick with sawdust.
