Rain-slicked cobblestones in a Merida plaza reflect the pale, diffused morning light, creating a mirror for the vibrant pink stucco of the cathedral facade. A street vendor pushes a heavy rolling cart laden with stacked boxes, its wheels leaving fresh tracks in the damp stone. Beside him, a woman in a faded apron wipes condensation from a glass display case, her movements hurried against the chill. The wet ground catches the neon sign of a nearby bakery, casting a blue spill over pebbles pressed into the mud near the curb.
